Da Vinci® Robotic Surgery

Some people feel apprehensive when they hear the term “robotic surgery”. Rest assured that your operation will still be performed by a trained human surgeon. The da Vinci® robotic system is just another tool that allows our surgeons to perform safer, more precise procedures.

The da Vinci® procedures we offer include:

  • Liver Resection
  • Bile Duct Resection
  • Biliary Bypass / Reconstruction
  • Pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple)
  • Single-Site Cholecystectomy (Gallbladder Removal)

The da Vinci® system is equipped with robotic limbs that can perform steady, precise movements that human hands can’t match. These limbs are also equipped with tools that can be inserted into the body without making the larger incisions that human hands would require. The robotic limbs are controlled by a trained surgeon. The da Vinci® system is equipped with small cameras that allow the surgeon to view the operation in real-time from a nearby monitor.

We Prepare Our Patients for Before & After Surgery

Surgery can take a toll on your body. It is important to make sure that you are physically fit enough to undergo the procedure without complications. Our team takes the time to educate our patients about all aspects of their procedures. We perform extensive screenings to ensure the procedure will be a success and prevent complications.

You will also need to be prepared for life after surgery. Depending on the type of operation, you may need to take several days off work or school. Resting and recovery should be your first priority during this time. It is recommended that you have someone stay with you at home for a few days to help out around the house.
